Ballard´s Supply Chain Management Department has an immediate opportunity available for a Senior Buyer. The Senior Buyer will work closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, & Product Development Teams, and, will be the key Ballard interface in the management of some of our strategic Vendor relationships.  This position will be located at our Burnaby facility.

As a senior member of the Supply Chain Team, this individual will be responsible for:

·          Managing a portfolio of suppliers to ensure Supply Chain objectives are met

·          Managing commodities to reduce non-value added activities and costs

·          Providing guidance to Ballard with respect to both Supplier and commodity roadmaps

·          Ensuring our Supply / commodity base aligns with overall operational expectations

·          Participating in Supplier audits and manage supplier performance

·          Providing input to supplier selection

·          Determination of Supplier capability/capacity and identify development requirements

·          Working in a team environment to optimize Supplier quality, on-time delivery, lead time and cost

·          Analyzing MRP requirements and determine appropriate supply strategy to ensure timeliness of manufacturing supply

·          Placement and management of purchase orders to meet requirements

·          Proactively communicating potential issues and interruptions in supply

·          Negotiating supply agreements as required

·          Assisting in the development of purchasing policies and procedures

Qualifications:

·          A bachelors degree in engineering, business or commerce

·          A minimum of 5 years procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.  APICS, PMAC or equivalent certification

·          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·          ERP or MRP experience

·          Proven history of supply chain successes

·          First hand experience in managing non-North American Suppliers

·          In-depth knowledge and experience in the drafting of supply agreements and other documents

·          The ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment
