Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation Corp. (AFCC) is a new company formed in February 2008 by Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company, and Ballard Power Systems. AFCC was created to develop and commercialize automotive fuel cells for Mercedes and Ford fuel cell vehicles. AFCC has a team of approximately 130 full-time employees focused on this exciting technology and is located in Burnaby, B.C.
AFCC has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join and contribute to our team. As a key member of the Supply Chain Team, the Senior Buyer will work closely with the Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, & Product Development Teams. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and maintaining supplier relationships.
Responsibilities:
Managing a portfolio of suppliers to ensure technical and commercial objectives are met,
Managing purchase orders to meet requirements,
Working in a team environment to optimize supplier quality, on-time delivery, lead time and cost,
Development of and compliance to purchasing policies and procedures,
Determining supplier capability/capacity and identify development requirements,
Providing input to supplier selection,
Analyzing MRP requirements and determining appropriate supply strategy to ensure timeliness of manufacturing supply,
Managing commodities to reduce non-value added activities and costs,
Providing guidance with respect to both supplier and commodity roadmaps,
Participating in supplier audits and managing supplier performance,
Negotiating supply agreements as required, and
Proactively communicating potential issues and interruptions in supply.
The successful candidate will possess:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A minimum 5 years procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
A thorough understanding of ERP and/or MRP systems
Experience in high-tech product development environment
A degree in Engineering, Business or Commerce
PMAC, APICS or equivalent certification
Experience in managing international suppliers
Thrives in a dynamic team environment.
Knowledge and experience in the drafting of supply agreements and other documents
